Flight Attendant Injured in JAL Turbulence Incident

A Japan Airlines (JAL) Boeing 787, operating from San Francisco to Tokyo, encountered turbulence over the Pacific Ocean, resulting in serious injuries to a flight attendant. At the time of the incident, the aircraft was cruising approximately 1,203 kilometers south of Kamchatka Island.
The Japanese Ministry of Transport has officially classified the occurrence as an “accident.” According to reports, the flight attendant was checking the lavatories for remaining passengers after the seatbelt signs were illuminated. While attempting to return to their seat, the crew member was caught in the turbulence. Medical evaluations later confirmed a fracture in the flight attendant’s right foot.
The aircraft, registered as JA865J, continued its flight and landed at Tokyo Narita Airport approximately 3.5 hours later. The Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB) has launched an official investigation into the accident.
